KeymasterYour credit report has your credit score, but a lot more info too, like your credit history, loan applications, and payment history. Three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion—compile these reports.
Here’s what you’ll typically find in a credit report:
Personal Information: Your name, address, Social Security number, and date of birth. This info helps make sure the report belongs to you.
Credit Accounts: Details about your credit cards, loans, and mortgages. This section shows your account types, the dates you opened them, credit limits or loan amounts, balances, and your payment history.
Credit Inquiries: A list of people or companies that have checked your credit report. There are two types of inquiries: hard (which can affect your credit score) and soft (which doesn’t affect your score).
Public Records: Information on bankruptcies, foreclosures, and any other legal matters related to your finances.
Collections: If you’ve had unpaid debts sent to a collection agency, that will appear here.
